Creekside is once again participating in Operation Christmas Child. Shoeboxes and packing lists are available in the Creekside lobby starting October 27th. Shoeboxes are due by Sunday, November 17th. Read on to learn more about this wonderful project.
How To Pack A Shoebox
1. Find a shoebox
Start with an average size cardboard or plastic shoebox. You can also pick up free Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes at Creekside starting Sunday, October 27th.
2. Girl or boy?
Decide if you will pack a box for a girl or boy and the age group: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.
3. Fill the box with gifts!
”WOW” Gift: A doll, soccer ball with a pump, stuffed animal, outfit, shoes, puppet, truck, musical instrument, etc.
Toys: Include items that children will immediately embrace such as toy cars, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, toys that light up and make noise (with extra batteries), etc.)
School Supplies: Pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.
Non-liquid Hygiene Items: Toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, washcloths, etc.
Accessories: T-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries), etc.
A Personal Note: You may enclose a note to the child and photo of yourself, your family, or group. If you include your name and an address, the child may be able to write back.
Please Do Not Include: Candy; toothpaste; used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.
4. Make a $10 Donation
This helps cover shipping and other ministry expenses associated with Operation Christmas Child. You can place your donation the Creekside offering slot (please make sure to designate it for Operation Christmas Child) or donate online here. If you donate online, you will be able to track your box and find out what country it was delivered to. Please do NOT place your donation inside your box.
5. Pray
Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift.
6. Drop Off Your Box
Drop off your box at Creekside by November 17th.
