Every church has a culture; a way of doing things. Here is the culture we intentionally pursue at Creekside.

Our Mission: Make Disciples

“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20; ESV)

We want to see as many people as possible come to know Christ, grow to be like Christ, and go with Christ to make more disciples. This is the target. Everything we do is aimed at this.

Our Motivation: The Gospel

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” (2 Corinthians 5:14-15; NIV)

The gospel is the good news that Jesus has done for us what we could never do for ourselves. It is the message we proclaim, and the theme of the biblical story. We are compelled not by guilt, shame, or anxiety, but by the love of Christ.

We follow Christ on his mission, because he made it his mission to save us.

our Values

“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called” (Ephesians 4:1; ESV)

What does a community look like when people are transformed by the gospel of God’s grace? We stop living for ourselves, and start living for him.

We Walk in the Word (Psalm 119:1)
We choose submission to the Word over self-direction. God’s Word is what saves us, grows us, and guides us. Therefore, we do not rely on our own wisdom or understanding, but trust wholly in God’s Word by being thoroughly and explicitly biblical in everything we do.

We Walk in the Light (1 John 1:8-10)
We choose humble confession over self-righteousness. Because we are far more loved than we’d dare to hope, we can admit that we are far more sinful than we’d dare to believe. We are free to begin where we are, living openly before God and others.

We Walk in Love (Ephesians 5:2)
We choose sacrifice over self-interest. Christ has laid down his life for us, so we lay down our lives for each other. Christ disadvantaged himself for us, so we disadvantage ourselves to bless others in our community; particularly the poor and marginalized.

Walk by Faith (2 Corinthians 5:7)
We choose dependence over self-sufficiency.
The Christian life is not me doing my best for Jesus, but Jesus doing his best through me. We choose prayerful dependence as a way of life and will risk courageously for the advancement of Christ's kingdom.
