Volunteer Opportunities

All of the following service opportunities are great for individuals, families, or small groups.

April Showers

Time: The third Sunday of the month from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Location: Boys and Girls' Club of San Leandro
Description:This is a program run by the Interfaith Homelessness Network of San Leandro that exists to increase public awareness about, advocate for, and provide services to the homeless. It began as a response to the death of Clement McMenemy, a decorated Vietnam veteran and a homeless man, on the streets of San Leandro. April Showers has been serving guests at the Boys and Girls Club of San Leandro since 2002. Individuals come to receive a hot meal, showers, fresh clothes, a bag lunch, and a haircut, as well as referrals for health care, social services, housing, jobs, and transportation.

Time: Now through October 22nd
Location: Creekside
Description:It's Socktober! You can help the homeless in our community by buying new medium and large men's white tube socks and placing them in the designated bin in the Creekside lobby. The socks will be distributed at April Showers.

Cooking Dinner For Building Futures With Women And Children

Time: The fourth Wednesday of each month from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Location: Creekside Kitchen
Description: Cook dinner as a group for the women and children residing in a safe house through Building Futures With Women And Children.

San Lorenzo Family Help Center Food Pantry

Time: Ongoing
Location: Creekside
Description:Donate non-perishable foods and support the food pantry at the San Lorenzo Family Help Center. Please place your donations in the designated bin the the Creekside lobby.
