Transient

We are always looking for new Sunday school teachers for our nursery through fifth grade classes. Whether you enjoy holding babies, building block towers with three year olds, making an edible Roman road with second graders, or teaching fifth graders about the Holy Spirit - there is a place for you to serve! Click here to see current volunteer needs and to sign up for more information.

Teachers have the following responsibilities:

Doing any necessary preparatory work for Sunday. Nursery, toddler, and preschool volunteers have no preparatory work for Sunday. Elementary teachers should read through their curriculum and the corresponding Bible passage several times before Sunday to familiarize themselves with the lesson. All lesson supplies are provided and already set up in your classroom each Sunday.

Serving one Sunday a month

Volunteers choose which Sunday of the month they would like to serve and whether they would like to serve during the 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. service. Volunteers then have three weeks off before they teach again. At the end of the year, volunteers can choose to serve in children's ministry for another year or pursue other opportunities.

Arranging for their own substitutes

Sickness, vacations, and the like can sometimes prevent a volunteer from serving on his/her scheduled Sunday. A volunteer can trade Sundays with another volunteer who serves during a different week or call someone from our list of substitutes.

Contact Jenny Bruce at (510) 430-0607 to request a Children's Ministry application or pick one up at Creekside. Complete the application and return it. We will run a background check and contact your references, then call you about an interview time.
